Many local companies offer military members a discount. Some give discounts only for active duty and others both active and retired members. Some (e.g., Lowes) offer a percentage discount on all purchases; Sam's Club gives a $15 gift card upon joining.

Second, many stores that give a military discount don’t advertise it. It is always worth asking a store whether they have one or not and to have your military ID on you.
